Alice Rose Palmer
I was born and raised in Hull and I am a graduate of The University of Hull. I am proud to be from such a friendly, culturally diverse city that has become a creative hotbed and is finally being recognised as such by the outside world. I credit my ‘ull upbringing for giving me the best start in life and a strong ethic for working hard to achieve my goals. I initially developed my acting skills and experience as part of Hull Truck Theatre’s ‘The Ensemble’ appearing in a variety of roles over a number of productions, before launching my professional acting career.
To date my career highlights have included playing the role of Winifred Holtby, a significant literary figure in an original one woman play ‘A life of My Own’ (Heads Up Festival 2015). I also have a passion for singing. As an accomplished, classically trained soprano I have performed solo and as part of a choir in a number of prestigious venues in Rome, Venice, Cologne, Paris, London and Windsor Castle. I have strong connections to Hull Truck Theatre and have taken parts in Hull Truck Theatre productions such as ‘A Passionate Woman’ and ‘The Christmas Office Party’.
I have a passion for, and believe that performing is far more than just about appearing on stage. My own experience has taught me the power of performance as an effective tool to help an individual’s personal development and how it can assist them to fulfil their potential. As a result, I use my personal experience to mentor the next generation of young performers, working as a Youth Theatre Facilitator at Hull Truck Theatre, assisting them to develop individuals' performance craft and character. I have recently made my directorial debut with the Youth Theatre production of ‘Rainbows Ending', which was an exciting opportunity to work with a young group of talented actors through the whole production process. I am really excited and delighted to be making this strong connection to a fantastic, up and coming theatre such as East Riding Theatre.
I am proud to be part of She Productions, the prospect of an all-female company that is fresh, innovative, supportive and ready to take on any challenge, is a very exciting one.
In my spare time I have been known to hang from the ceiling performing aerial skills on the Silks, Trapeze and Hoop.
